AMES, Iowa – Nikki Moody recorded 20 points, eight boards and seven dimes to pace No. 23 Iowa State (16-5, 5-5 Big 12) to an 84-65 victory over Kansas State (9-12, 3-7 Big 12) Saturday night in Hilton Coliseum.

Moody was 5-of-6 from the field, including a 3-of-4 effort from downtown, to help the Cyclones even their Big 12 mark to 5-5. Moody was one of four Cyclones in double figures: Hallie Christofferson (15), Jadda Buckley (14), Kidd Blaskowsky (13).

Blaskowsky hit two treys and Moody drained one to help the Cyclones take an early 18-6 lead. KSU made just 3-of-13 shots from the floor to begin the game to help ISU stake its lead.

With KSU still misfiring, the Cyclones increased their lead to 31-10 with 5:12 left in the opening period after back-to-back 3-pointers from Moody.

ISU made seven treys in the first half, four from Blaskowsky and three from Moody, to hold a comfortable 45-19 lead at the break.

ISU’s lead grew to as many as 30 points (64-34) with nine minutes left in the contest.

Iowa State made it extremely difficult for the Wildcats to get anything going offensively, especially early on while building its comfortable lead. KSU shot just 27.3 percent from the floor and had nine turnovers in the first half.

At one point late in the first half, the Wildcats were just 5-of-25 (20 pct.) from the field. KSU was still below 25 percent from the floor down 30 points with nine minutes left in the game. It was long after the game was out of reach until the Wildcats got above 30 percent.

ISU forced 16 KSU turnovers behind a season-high nine steals by the Cyclones.

Kidd Blaskowsky busted out of her mini shooting slump by scoring 13 points, including 12 in the first half, in the rout of the Wildcats. Blaskowsky was just 2-of-11 from 3-point range in her last three games, but she was on target tonight, drilling 4-of-10.

Iowa State plays host to TCU on Wednesday (Feb. 5). Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. on Cyclones.tv.
