TAMA COUNTY – An elderly Iowa woman died Friday as a result of a head-on collision in Tama county.
According to a report, 71-year-old Corrine E. Elston of Traer, Iowa, was driving a 2008 Subaru Legacy northbound on Highway 63 sought of 200th Street when she encountered another vehicle, driven by 51-year-old John Merrick of Johnston, which was southbound. Elston lost control of her vehicle on the ice-covered roadway and crossed the center line, striking Merrick’s 2007 International semi.
Elston was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
