WEST DES MOINES – Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Kim Governor Reynolds announced Wednesday that they are running for another term in 2014.
A day after a Condition of the State address where the governor talked of major bipartisan accomplishments, his campaign traveled to West Des Moines to make the big announcement.
The Branstad-Reynolds campaign foreshadowed their announcement with an email to supporters this week, saying that “Iowa is on a path to a brighter future. Jobs are roaring back. We’ve cut the size and scope of government and have signed into law the largest property tax cut in history. We are implementing historic education reform and healthcare initiatives. This is how we build Iowa’s future.”
Wednesday’s event was the kickoff of the Building Iowa’s Future tour. The Branstad-Reynolds campaign will travel across the state to meet the people of Iowa. They will travel to Pella, Ottumwa, Fort Madison, Muscatine and Davenport on Thursday; Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, and Mason City on Friday; and Fort Dodge, Orange City, Sioux City and Council Bluffs on Saturday.
Branstad, shooting for a sixth term, got an immediate endorsement from the Republican Governors Association.
“With more Iowans at work than ever before, the unemployment rate at a five-year low, historic investments in education and economic development, and the largest tax cut in state history, the Iowa comeback is alive and well under Governor Terry Branstad. Because of Governor Branstad’s principled, results-driven leadership, Iowa is moving in the right direction, and the Republican Governors Association strongly supports his re-election.”

By the way I wasn’t defending what LVS was saying, I thought at times he would come very close to crossing the line but trying to get him banned because you don’t like what he was saying IS a violation of his rights.

@maybe-the thing is I always know where the line is. What BCN is forgetting is that the people who post on here are “Anonymous” that means we don’t know who they are “even though we might suspect” and we don’t know where they live. Therefore, you can’t threaten anyone because you don’t know who it is. Fear is only in the mind of the guilty and I think BCN is one who lives in fear. Hypocrites are always the worse ones. They think they are better than anyone else and everyone is supposed to follow what they want.
I wrote to Gov Branstad about a year ago to ask if he would consider legalizing medical marijuana in Iowa. I told him of my friend with cancer who lived longer because marijuana increased her appetite and made her much more comfortable. I received a message back from someone on his staff who said one of Branstad’s top priorities was continuing to keep Iowa drug free. In other words, don’t vote for Branstad if you think medical marijuana should be legal in Iowa. He is absolutely unwavering when it comes to alleviating the suffering of thousands of Iowans. He doesn’t deserve another term. He is one of the least progressive governors in the country.
Branstad is one of those self righteous, asswipes who think they have it all figured out. They believe in top down authoritarianism, and have a simplistic “country church” view of the world. They’ve managed to get by in life without ever really having to “think” about matters deeper than making money or sitting in a church pew being told how to think. It’s all about NOT doing things to succeed with characters like these. The less they do the better is how they measure success.

I like branstad, he said once that he was against common core but after reading another post here where someone disagreed with me I started checking it out more and I found that he is now for common core, I will NOT be voting for him this time unless he changes his position.
