Judge Weiland increases bond for Clear Lake man accused of two domestic assaults

MASON CITY – A Clear Lake man is back in jail Saturday after a judge increased his bond after he was accused of two domestic assaults and felony burglary.

Benjamin J. Frederick, age 32 of Clear Lake, stands accused of a domestic assault that took place on November 24, 2013, which lead a no-contact order being imposed by Judge Rolf Aronson.

Frederick allegedly violated that no-contact order on the morning of December 18th. Clear Lake police arrested and charged him with felony C burglary, domestic assault and violating a no-contact order. Another charge was added, felony D assault while participating in a felony.

Frederick had posted a bond of $5,000 on December 20th and was released from the Cerro Gordo County Jail as he awaited a court hearing on December 27th for the burglary and assault charges.

On December 26th, Judge Colleen Weiland imposed a new cash-only bond of $25,000 on Frederick and issued a warrant for his arrest the next day. Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs picked him up Saturday at about noon.

Frederick awaits a January 13th arraignment in court.
