Alleged drunk driver rolls car south of Clear Lake

CLEAR LAKE – A North Iowa man rolled his car Christmas night as a law enforcement officer looked on.

According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, on December 25th at about 10:56 PM, a deputy observed a vehicle driving at “an extremely high rate of speed” near the intersection of Grouse Avenue and 210th Street, about 3 miles south of Clear Lake. The deputy attempted to catch up to the vehicle. The Deputy then came upon the vehicle entering the ditch and rolling several times.

The driver, Kyle Lou Ricke, age 33 of Algona, was uninjured and was arrested for OWI 2nd Offense, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Control, and Interference With Official Acts. Records indicate the Ricke refused a breathalyzer test.

Ricke posted a $2,000 bond on December 26th and was released from jail, as he awaits a January 10th court appearance.

Ricke was charged with operating while intoxicated in October of 2012. In March of 2013, Judge Nathan Callahan gave him a deferred sentenced and a fine of $1250, which he has paid in full.

You mean ‘others on the road’ are lucky to be alive.
I drive this road every night and have been almost ran off the road by careless drivers many times because of excessive speed. If they want to catch speeders this road is the one to patrol that’s for sure.

Haha that’s my dad
