MASON CITY – A man who called police about being stabbed was quickly proven to be a liar and taken to jail Sunday.
Mason City police were called Monday evening at about 6:13 PM by Rueben Hickman, age 18, who told dispatch that he had been stabbed. Police responded to North Pierce Avenue and 1st Street NW. Hickman was located and was found to be uninjured.
A female Mason City police officer held Hickman at taser-point until four more officers arrived on the scene. Hickman was arrested for false reports and interference. He is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail at this time on $1,000 cash or surety bond.
Sunday’s arrest is at least the fourth arrest of Hickman by North Iowa authorities since October.
