MASON CITY – A former Mason City man accused of the 1994 murder of Mason City toddler has waived his right to a speedy trial.
Michael Jason Cisneros, 37, has pleaded not guilty to the crime of murder. He stands accused of murdering John Joseph Snyder Jr., who was just 20 months old when he died. 0n July 21, 1994 at approximately 9:56 am John Joseph Snyder Junior was found in Willow Creek just east of the Pennsylvania Avenue bridge in Mason City.
The case had gone cold in the years following until a DNA sample submitted by Michael Cisneros and the profile taken from the evidence submitted in December 2nd, 2002 – namely John Snyder Junior’s pajama bottoms – came back a match. The first degree murder charge was filed against Cisneros in July. See more at a press conference held by authorities.
No trial date is set yet.
Cisneros is currently in custody at Cerro Gordo County jail, held on $500,000 cash bond.

Before all the negative comments start rolling in, it is not for us to judge, that’s for the justice system. Remember the saying innocent until proven guilty?
