MASON CITY – An employee of Matt Dodge Insurance has slammed NorthIowaToday.com and has implored others not to visit the site.

Lisa Grouette, who works for Matt Dodge Insurance as a Licensed Agency Specialist, said late Friday evening on August 2nd, 2013 to “Stop going to that website!!”

Grouette was commenting on Facebook along with others about a story published in NorthIowaToday.com – that included video – where her boss Matt Dodge (a Mason City Human Rights Commissioner) ripped Human Rights Commission Chairman Dean Genth for “chastising” him. The story was “shared” on Facebook by Matt Dodge’s wife – Christina Reynolds Dodge – and several others were also commenting on the story.  The comments left on Facebook were very supportive of Matt Dodge and some were simply making fun of some comments left below the story by NIT readers.

But Matt Dodge’s employee Lisa Grouette seemed especially angry at NIT.

“I could buy a Ouija board, hold a seance, conjure the spirit of my dead Uncle Frank, and get a more accurate account of the local news,” she said on the message board.

“Every time you click that site,” Grouette continued, “self-purported martyr puts a dollar in his pocket. So stop. Do it for Uncle Frank.”

NIT Publisher Matt Marquardt was made aware of the comments Saturday morning by another NIT reader.

“I was shocked and saddened that Ms. Grouette harbors such hostility and anger towards not only my business, but apparently me, personally,” Marquardt said.

“I recently purchased insurance with Mr. Dodge,” Marquardt continued. “Lisa emailed me about finalizing my policy and she was very nice. I do know that Mr. Dodge was quite upset with me immediately after that for disclosing to the public in a story that he had taken a case he had before the Mason City Human Rights Commission all the way to a federal agency in Kansas City.  That was disclosed as our Mayor and Council were approving him to serve on the MCHRC.  He summoned me to his office and chastised me for writing that.  Perhaps that issue has been talked about at greater length at his office.”

To “John” who is mad at Matt Dodge for the way the insurance company settled: That is the way of insurance business! It is not like Matt sits at his office and arbitrarily decides who gets paid and how much! My mom went under the train trestle by Cenex many years ago while a train was overhead. A rock flew down, broke her windshield, insurance paid 70% said she was 30% at fault for “being there.” Insurance agents are just that “agents” of the company.

So someone please clarify the whole, big picture here for me? The story itself is about the employee disparaging NIT. I got that. These comments on the other hand are slamming Matt Dodge and talking about him “making a fool of himself” and his “motivation?”
What “motivations?” What “making a fool of himself?” I have no idea what this references….

Stomping all over our constitutionally protected freedom of speech is a really wise way to grow your readership. The toilet paper I used this morning has better material on it that North Iowa Today. And to think this ass hat wants to run for the city counsel…

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!! August 7, 2013

Mayor Bookmeyer is seen going into Matt Dodge’s insurance office FREQUENTLY!

Matt, you are being used…..

Don’t do businees with Matt Dodge. I had car insurance with him and he would not help me with a claim. I had a collision with a truck that ran a yeild sight from the left of me, so I had right of way x 2. Since the other driver also had American Family, they ruled it 50/50 and I had to pay for someone running a yeald sign on Kentucky.

Matt Dodge would not stand up for me and was nasty, he sent me a note and said, “find someone else to do your insurance if you are not happy.” I did and am very happy with State Farm. Matt Dodge screwed me out of well over $2,000 not to mention the premiums I paid for the coverage that was suposed to protect me.

Stay away from this guy and this insurance agency. If you love American Family Insurance, (I Don’t, but would go to Scott on South Federal in the ISU building.)

Wow do it for uncle frank…stay Classy!

What is great about this site is being able to see how others are thinking and feeling about a particular issue.

It’s also a fantastic way for others to describe how they interpret what is being said. I find that most of the time people are spot on, when they read between the lines.

This site is the NO SPIN ZONE! That is what REALLY has your skirt in a bunch….

You elitists don’t give the readers on NIT enough credit for their incite.

ds and supertall asked? “And this is news why?

To answer your question:

People’s behavior is news! It shows their character, intent, their agenda, and just how much they really respect the wishes of others.

Clearly, this is important. While you may not call it news, I understand that, but it is still informative and worthy of print.

If you think this is something here on NIT you should check our other web sites. This is common place reporting in Europe. The media in the USA has been under such strict propaganda guidelines, the American people never get the truth of the news.

You are upset because of the exposures behind the motivation of people like Matt Dodge.

THAT IS CLEARLY NEWS!

Why is this news

This site is mostly for gossip purposes and community entertainment. Ya, there’s a news involved but the reader needs to separate the chaff from the wheat.

This so-called “news” site is all about making news instead of reporting news. You (NIT) are NOT the news.

Matt M should call/write American Family and complain about Matt Dodge’s chastisement of him, not really the way a customer should be treated.

I was taught as a child that when someone apologize to someone and they accept the apologe that they are to move on and not keep bring it up. What Matt Dodge did at the meeting was to try to embarrass Dean. Matt was just waiting for the opportunity to say something about the grathering at the park. It should be shame on Matt! As for his employee sticking up for him who wouldn’t stick up for their boss? If she disagree with him she sure wouldn’t put it on here.

Matt was seriously wrong when he brought up the email that he had already gotten an apology for from Dean Genth. He just wanted to sensationalize it for some reason. So, now the employee comes back like an idiot and whips NIT for some reason.

Why don’t these people grow up!!! GEt a life and stick to being mean spirited snobs and leave the rest of the world alone….

It just show how far these people will go to discredit N.I.T. They just can’t stand it that the public has a chance to comment about their crookedness and shortcomings on N.I.T. Such small minded people as this are exactly why our city is in such a disarray. Instead of getting pissed at N.I.T they should be getting pissed at Dodge for making such a fool of himself in public. Just my opinion.

Well if you ran a news website you could throw out to the public all your disputes too……..immature, what’s next published text messages?

and this is news why??
