MASON CITY – A Mason City man remains jailed this weekend after an assault that took place earlier last week.
According to police, Raymond Leroy Hayes, 41, was arrested on June 29th after a citizen reported witnessing an assault just after midnight at 410 North Washington Ave. Officers responded and located several people in or on the property, including Hayes, but not the possible victim. Hayes was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
Hours later, the female victim reported the earlier assault to police. Police completed their investigation and applied for a arrest warrant which was then was signed by a judge. Police began looking for Hayes, who had earlier pled guilty to disorderly conduct and been released from jail.
Police located Hayes at 333 West State and arrested him on the warrant on June 29th at approx 11:56 pm. The arrest warrant for Hayes was for one count of Aggravated Domestic Assault.
Hayes is in the Cerro Gordo County Jail at this time on $5,000 cash-only bond. He has a court date set for July 10th.
