Council Bluffs, IOWA — Earlier Monday, 68 year old Dr. Dennis Jones of Council Bluffs turned himself in to law enforcement at the Pottawattamie County Jail. He is now facing one count of Second Degree Sexual Abuse, a Class B Felony.
Division of Criminal Investigation and Council Bluffs Police Department will be available at 3:00 PM today for members of the media who wish to obtain an interview. Please arrive at the Post 3 Headquarters at 2025 Hunt Ave., Council Bluffs, IOWA.
Dr. Jones is accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with a minor child, under the age of 12. This contact did not take place in the context of his medical practice. Rather, the alleged conduct involves a relative of Dr. Jones. The child in question disclosed the inappropriate contact to a parent, who in turn contacted authorities.
Dr. Jones remains at the Pottawattamie County Jail on $65,000 bond.
The charge is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Council Bluffs Police Department.
