Mason City felon picked up on two warrants; faces child endangerment trial this month

MASON CITY – A man wanted on two warrants was arrested by police on Thursday.

Michael Randal Olson, 31, who claims to be from Mason City, was picked up by Mason City police near the 1300 block of North President Avenue at about 9 PM Thursday.

Olson was wanted on one warrant for third degree theft after being issued a citation by Mason City police after a December 14th, 2012 incident. Olson was wanted on a second warrant for possession of hydrocodone after receiving a citation from Mason City police on November 9th, 2012. Olson had failed to appear for an arraignment hearing on December 3rd and a warrant was then issued by Judge Colleen Weiland.

Olson was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail, where he is still being held on $2,000 bond, with 10% cash needed for release on the third degree theft charge and $5,000 cash only on the hydrocodone possession charge, which is a felony charge.

Olson faces another trial on January 29th for a child endangerment charge, to which he has plead not guilty.  Olson is a convicted felon, after being pleading guilty to a class D felony negotiated plea in July of 2012 for possession of a controlled substance.
