MASON CITY – Throughout last week starting early in the morning, with frost still on the windshield of most people cars, workers from Dean Snyder Construction Company and Yohn Ready Mix Concrete Company were hard at work at the new site of Metalcraft.

Located jut south of Menards, at 3360 9th Street SW, the new Metalcraft I.D. Plates & Labels Company building will be approximately 47,000 square feet in size.

“Due to growth,” said Metalcraft’s Vice President of Manufacturing, Dean Hanson about the reason for the move.  “Right now we have about 80 employees, we have hired a few recently, but have yet to determine how many more people we will need.”

The first structures are going up and the concrete is being poured. Dave Synder was busy smoothing out the concrete as it flowed out of the truck.

“We expect to be moving into the building next August or September,” said Hanson. “It is a good thing for the economy to see a local company grow and we’re so proud of that.”

In September, the Mason City Council approved up to $775,000 in incentives for Metalcraft to help them make the move from their current location at 149 4th Street Southwest.
