MASON CITY – On Friday November 9th, South Coolidge Avenue and South Wilson Avenue will be closed at the Iowa Traction Railway Co. crossing and intersection of 19th Street SW. The intersections will be closed while the railroad removes the existing crossings and reconstructs them with improved materials.
Following the reconstruction of the crossings, crossing approach pavement will be removed and replaced by a second contractor. In the event of inclement weather, the crossings will be reopened after reconstruction and the approach pavement section replaced in the spring.
The duration of the closures is expected to be two to three weeks. Following the reopening of the crossings, South Harding Avenue will be closed for similar reconstruction improvements.
