Chicago Man Sentenced in Iowa On Drug Charges

DAVENPORT, IA – On September 14, 2012, Javon Terrell Daniels, age 19, of Chicago, was sentenced to 40 months imprisonment for possessing crack cocaine with intent to distribute, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered that Daniels serve a term of four years supervised release following imprisonment.

On January 4, 2012, Davenport, Iowa, police were called to the bus terminal in downtown Davenport, where a bus driver reported smelling marijuana in the bus’ luggage compartment. After a check of the luggage by a police K-9, police found marijuana, cocaine, and crack cocaine in luggage belonging to Daniels, who was a passenger on the bus en route from Chicago to Iowa City, Iowa. The investigation revealed that Daniels was transporting the drugs from Chicago to Iowa City on behalf of Chicago drug traffickers.

The case was investigated by the Davenport, Iowa, Police Department, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
