Cabin Coffee hosts Humane Society of North Iowa “Dog Wash”

by Jody Spear and Kelly Meyer –

MASON CITY – “Scoobie Doo just loves coming to these kind of things, he really loves baths,” said Scoobie’s owner Dawn Gourley.

“We try and support as many of them as we can.”

For a $10 donation to the Humane Society of North Iowa and proof of rabies vaccinations, your pet would receive a bath, a goody-bag full of treats and a lot of love from the washers.

Cabin Coffee was the location of Saturday’s dog wash.

Sybil Soukup (pictured, with Scoobie), Executive Director at Humane Society of North Iowa was there giving the baths and getting wet.  “Cabin Coffee has a special blend that they are doing today. It’s called Barker’s Blend, for two reasons, one for woof, woof, to remind us of our dog friends and two, for Bob Barker, to remind us to spay and neuter our pets. Any drink, hot or cold, that used the Barker’s Blend as part of it’s base, part of the proceeds goes toward the Humane Society of North Iowa. Scoobie is very much in support of that the Humane Society is doing.

“We washed 45 dogs and raised over $500,” Sybil said. “We’ll know more next week when Cabin Coffee lets us know what their sales were. It was a good day and we think we’ll be doing it again next year.”

Up next for a bath, would be Rosco, a friendly little pugle (pictured below) and waiting in line patiently was Toby.
