Pilots, spectators welcome this weekend at River City RC events

MASON CITY – River City Radio Controlled will be holding flying events this weekend.

The event is held both days at the North Iowa Events Center, at the east end of the racetrack.

River City RC is committed to the advancement of model aviation and wishes to share the enjoyment of this hobby with as many people as possible, its website explains.

“On Saturday, we will be holding an event open to all AMA pilots for training toward competition in classic RC aerobatics,” River City RC member Jim Myklestad told NIT.

Saturday’s activities include a “Classic Pattern Primer.”  The aim is to reintroduce pattern the way it was before the current “turnaround” style came into vogue and “have a little fun in the process.”

Saturday flying starts at 10 AM until dark, unless you have a night flyer.

On Sunday, all pilots and spectators are welcome to come out and enjoy a relaxing day with radio-controlled planes.

“Get those dusty crusty birds out of the rafters and join us for a day of fun and relaxation,” the group said on its website.  “If you don’t have a war bird, bipe or a classic plane, don’t worry, bring what you have and have some fun anyway.”

Flying starts at 10 AM on Sunday until about 5 PM.
