Ames police nab robbery suspect

AMES – As noted in a previous press release, officers of the Ames Police Department have been investigating a robbery which occurred on March 21, 2012, in which two suspects forced their way into an apartment at 4210 Lincoln Swing. The suspects threatened the resident with an edged weapon and then took a number of items from the apartment. Both suspects were described as being tall black male adults wearing dark colored hoodies.

The follow-up investigation conducted in this case resulted in latent fingerprints found at the scene being submitted and searched through the Iowa Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). This search found that the prints belonged to 21 year old Kenneth Shaw of Ames.

On Friday, April 27, 2012, Shaw was taken into custody and was charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Burglary 1st Degree; both charges are classified as a Class “B” Felony. Shaw was processed at the Ames Police Department and was transferred to the Story County Jail.

Investigation continues into this case along with the robbery with occurred on March 23, 2012, at 4130 Lincoln Swing.
