DAVENPORT, IA– On March 7, 2012, Carl Louis Johnson, Jr, age 26, of Iowa City, was sentenced to 140 months imprisonment in connection with a conspiracy in Iowa City to distribute crack cocaine, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered Johnson to serve ten years of supervised release following imprisonment and to pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund.
On February 24, 2011, Johnson entered a guilty plea in federal court to conspiring to distribute at least 280 grams of crack cocaine from July 2010, through November 4, 2010, and to possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Johnson admitted conspiring with Antonio Martin, Phillip Lewis, Antonio Murray, and Shelby Young. A law enforcement investigation from July 2010 to November 2010 resulted in six controlled purchases of crack cocaine from Johnson. Johnson admitted he was responsible for a least 280 grams of crack cocaine. Previously, Lewis was sentenced to 108 months imprisonment, Murray to 90 months imprisonment, and Young to 188 months imprisonment. Martin’s sentencing is pending.
This case was investigated by the Johnson County, Iowa, Multi-Agency Drug Task Force, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the Iowa City, Iowa, Police Department, and the Iowa Department of Public Safety-Division of Narcotics Enforcement. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
