Mason City schools construction update

MASON CITY- The Mason City School District has released the following information about the on-going John Adams Middle School construction project:

Phase 3A – Larson Contacting
o Larson has completed their city inspections but the kitchen is not ready for the health inspection at this time. The switch to the John Adams Cafeteria and Kitchen space has been postponed until all of the required work in these areas is completed.
o The architectural and mechanical/electrical punch-list inspections have occurred. Work identified on this punch-list will be corrected.
o Acoustic panels in the dining area, staff lockers and exterior work is not complete. This work is tentatively scheduled to be completed by January 31, 2012.

Phase 3B – Henkel Construction
o The last concrete floor pour in the JAMS music room was completed this week. Above ceiling mechanical and electrical rough in will now begin.
o Above ceiling ductwork, piping and electrical is taking place on both levels of John Adams.
o The FCS room punch-list has been completed.
o Exterior foundation work at the SR Music Wing will begin next week.

Phase 4 FEMA Safe Room – Holland Contracting
o Concrete foundations are expected to be near completion by January 13, 2012.
o Precast wall panel shop drawings are being reviewed. Fabrication could begin in approximately 2 weeks, and the date has not yet been confirmed.
o Masonry work should begin in about 2 weeks.
