Janet Solberg still has her City Hall inbox locked up tight.
It is an odd sight, looking at all the open boxes, where public information is placed for council members, the mayor, and other city hall employees. But there is just one box with a locking door, belonging to Solberg.
NorthIowaToday.com contacted Solberg via email, who represents Mason City’s Fourth Ward, asking why her inbox remains locked. We inquired if someone had been stealing from her, or was there some other concern. Solberg did not reply.
Solberg requested in November 2010 that locked doors be placed over all the council inboxes.
At that time, Councilman Don Nelson told NorthIowaToday.com “Jeff (Marsters), myself and Max (Weaver) already requested the doors come off our boxes. It’s just ridiculous. It’s the public’s inbox. I’m just a custodian of it.”
Now a year later, all the locked doors are gone but hers.
