MASON CITY – It’s that time of year again. As the holidays inch their way closer each day, and the weather turns colder, people seem to instinctively get more festive and dig out the yard decorations.
Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas will take their turns coming and going over the next ten weeks.
As one holiday passes, the next seems to instantly pop on the radar and the decorations will be hauled out and placed in yards in order to show spirit and creativity. Who doesn’t relish dusting off and untangling that giant ball of Christmas lights on a shelf in the garage?
Already this Halloween season, several neat yard decorations have been noticed. Take a look at the two photos, below, for example. Can your yard decorations top these?
If you or a neighbor has a unique Halloween display, take a photo and email it to staff@northiowatoday.com.

Buried alive, this fellow is trying to claw his way out of the ground.
