Law enforcement involved in standoff in Mason City Thursday night

MASON CITY – Mason City police and the Iowa State Patrol all converged at a spot on Mason City’s south side Thursday night.

“There were cops all over. MCPD and Iowa State Patrol. They had their guns drawn,” said one person who drove by.

“Like 4 mc cop cars parked- blocked off president to the north, 3 in the parking lot, cops all around the building and you could see their guns drawn and pointed,” said another person who called NorthIowaToday.com.

The area where the incident occured was the corner of 6th Street SW and South President Ave. near the car wash and the Ingersoll Water Conditioning building.

A check of the area at 9:05 p.m. showed no activity, all was quiet.
