MASON CITY – Human Rights Department Director Lionel Foster will be resuming his role as a member of the Mason City Civil Service Commision as an ex officio member.
An ex officio member would be on the commission without a vote.
In a memo to Mike Svejda, Chair of the Mason City Civil Service Commission on September 9, Foster said “with the sudden unexpected departure of (city attorney) Tom Meyer I have decided to return to assist the Civil Service Commission in my ex officio capacity.
Foster says that he was “regularly participating in the Civil Service meetings in an ex officio capacity until Tom Meyer was appointed as the city’s Human resource Director.”
Foster goes on to say that he will be attending Tuesday’s Civil Service Commission meeting, but will not participate “as I may have a conflict of interest in that matter.”
