A song written by Carl Grover, of Mason City, called “I Can See Home(A Soldier’s Song)” was a finalist in the 12th annual Great American Song Contest in the ‘special category music’ and received an honorable mention award.

The song was recorded by two very talented local musicians: Louis Duda and Lucas Frein.
Grover said “I wrote the song but it was Louis’s incredible musicianship and Lucas’s amazing vocal talents that really gave it life.”
