MASON CITY — Looking to have fun with some of your tax refund, or to say goodbye to the tax season?
Then plan on attending the Trivia and Auction eXtravaganza from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, at the Muse Norris Conference Center at North Iowa Area Community College.
The event is the major spring fundraiser for Stebens Children’s Theatre in Mason City. It will include a trivia contest, live and silent auctions, wine tasting and an appetizer buffet.
Auction items will include gift certificates to area restaurants, special theme parties, gift baskets put together by each class of students taking acting lessons at Stebens, and many other items donated by local businesses.
“This fundraiser is known by all as an entertaining night full of great wine and food, great auction deals, a great cause and great people,” said Stebens Children’s Theatre Executive Director Tom Ballmer.
Tickets for the event are now available and teams are being accepted for the trivia contest. Tickets cost $12.50 in advance or $15 at the door. Tickets for an entire trivia team of 10 can be purchased for $100.
Proceeds from the fundraiser go toward production expenses, royalty fees, workshop expenses and for student scholarships. About one fourth of the students enrolled in classes at Stebens receive scholarships based on financial need.
Stebens Children’s Theatre, established in 1984, is a nonprofit organization that teaches children all aspects of theater and puts on eight productions a year, providing entertainment to about 14,000 people.
