NIACC Foundation Offers Planned Giving Seminar on April 28

Make plans to attend the NIACC Foundation’s Planned Giving Seminar on Thursday, April 28, in the Muse-Norris Conference Center at NIACC. A session for the general public, titled “Seven Secrets to Enhance and Protect Your Wealth,” is available in the afternoon, and a morning session for professionals offers three hours of continuing education credits. The event will offer current information on planned giving presented in an understandable and entertaining manner.

“I’m pleased the NIACC Foundation is able to offer this seminar to help people realize the advantages of estate planning,” said Jamie Zanios, director of the NIACC Foundation.

Presenter Johni Hays, J.D., Senior Planned Giving Consultant of The Stelter Company, is a nationally recognized speaker in charitable gift planning.

“Johni Hays has been a valuable asset to the NIACC Foundation through her consulting work with The Stelter Company. We are fortunate to have her visit North Iowa for presentations to donors and planned giving professionals. This is a ‘don’t miss’ opportunity,” said Zanios.
Hays is the Senior Planned Giving Consultant for The Stelter Company, a national publisher of planned giving newsletters and web products for charities. She has written books on annuities and charitable planning, has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal and has published charitable planning articles in many professional magazines. Hays frequently lectures to groups on estate and charitable planning, probate, living wills, annuities, life insurance, retirement planning and IRAs, as well as income, estate and gift taxation. She previously served as the Executive Director of the Greater Des Moines Community Foundation Planned Giving Institute.

The seminar will consist of two segments:
The morning session, beginning at 8:00 a.m., will consist of three one-hour sessions for attorneys, accountants and professional advisors, followed by a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. This educational seminar qualifies for three Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit hours, including one ethics credit hour. The seminar also qualifies for three Continuing Education credit hours through the Iowa Insurance Division. The cost to attend the seminar is $25 per participant. Checks and credit cards are accepted.

The afternoon session, beginning at 1:30 p.m., includes the presentation, “Seven Secrets to Enhance and Protect Your Wealth.” In this seminar designed for the general public, Hays will introduce strategic retirement and estate planning techniques to help donors maximize assets and reduce anxiety about finances. There will be no request for donations. The seminar will be followed by a social hour at 3:00 p.m. which will include piano music by protÈgÈ Harrison Sheckler of Charles City and special NIACC desserts.
Registration for both seminars is required. For more information or to register for the event, please contact the NIACC Foundation office at 1-888-466-4222, ext. 4386; 641-422-4386; or foundation@niacc.edu.
