(Sen. Amanda Ragan press release)
As we lay the groundwork for all Iowans to recover from the national recession, we are working to put together a fiscally responsible state budget. This week in the Iowa Senate, we outlined a budget proposal that reflects the priorities of Iowans. Our budget includes a $199 million tax cut to help working Iowans and encourage small business investment in our state. It also increases investment in our local schools and continues our state’s successful preschool initiative.
In the Senate, we’ve unanimously approved a tax cut for 240,000 working Iowans who have been hit hard by the recession and have voted to increase state support for local schools. As we work on the details of the next state budget, I want to hear your comments and suggestions for balancing the budget responsibly and building a foundation for a lasting economic recovery for all Iowans.
