MacNider Art Museum Hosts Closing Reception for Larry Welo: Quiet Landscapes

Larry Welo: Quiet Landscapes will close in the MacNider Art Museum’s Center Space Gallery on Saturday, February, 26. Join us at 1 pm for the exhibition’s closing reception. Quiet Landscapes features the etchings of Larry Welo, a Midwest printmaker who runs a studio in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. Since the 1970s, Welo has been creating intricate etchings depicting small Midwestern towns and landscapes.

“I am different from most printmakers in that I create my compositions while working on location. I take my copper plate (or plates) to the location and work directly from the subject, creating my compositions on the spot. Each etching is worked through stages (sometimes as many as thirty) before I reach my completed piece.”

Larry will be in attendance at the closing reception and would enjoy talking about his work and answer any questions you may have. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

PLEASE NOTE: Larry Welo: Quiet Landscapes will close immediately following the reception. If you would like to view this exhibition before it is gone, please come to the MacNider Art Museum before 3 pm on Saturday, February 26. |
