A hearing in the Wanda Kruse theft case will be held Tuesday at 1 PM at the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse.
An attorney for Kruse, David Laudner, is asking that the Cerro Gordo County Attorney’s office be removed as prosecutor in the case. A source close to the case told NorthIowaToday.com that Cerro Gordo County should not prosecute the case due to a potential conflict of interest.
The Iowa Attorney General’s Office and a Hancock County prosectuor have both made it clear they will not take the case.
A source has also said that much discovery in the case has not been made available to the defense.
A change of venue motion has not yet been ruled upon, but could be at Tuesday’s hearing.
Kruse has been charged with second-degree theft by misappropriation of funds while employed as the North Iowa Fair manager.|
