Family Ice Fishing Day to be held this weekend

On January 29, 2011 at Lester Milligan Park (Blue Pit), the Mason City Recreation Department and Iowa Department of Natural Resources would like to invite children & their families to attend the Family Ice Fishing Day! The IDNR will be stocking 1,400 rainbow trout at 11:30 a.m. the day of the event to encourage family participation in the sport of ice fishing. The MC Recreation Department will provide refreshments to those in attendance. Prizes and certificates will be awarded. There will also be volunteers on hand to answer questions & help where it is needed. The event is free, but anglers must be properly licensed. If adults have a valid fishing license & trout fee, children under 16 years of age, fishing with that adult will be covered and together their daily limit is five trout. Children under 16 years of age need a trout fee only if not fishing with a licensed adult. The daily bag limit for trout is five fish per day. Participants should bring appropriate ice fishing gear. A limited amount of poles & tackle will be available to those who do not have any.
