Four Mason City police officers to receive Life Saving Award

MASON CITY - Four heroic Mason City Police Officers will receive the Life Saving Award at City Council meeting on December 21.

MASON CITY – Four heroic Mason City Police Officers will receive the Life Saving Award at City Council meeting on December 21.

According to details from the MCPD:

During our command staff meeting yesterday, Captain McKelvey submitted a nomination for the Life Saving Award for Officers Creekmur, Connor, Seifken and Walthall relating to their actions on October 27, 2010. This was the incident where the car had gone into the river off of Birch Drive and they pulled two Mason City teens out of the car. It was with unanimous agreement that these officers should receive the Mason City Police Department Life Saving Medal as recognition. An award presentation is being planned for the next city council meeting on December 21, 2010, in addition this information has been forwarded to the Iowa State Department of Public Safety for consideration of the Sullivan Brothers Award of Valor.

All employees are welcome to attend the presentation at the council meeting and please offer your congratulations to them for a job well done.
