IOWA CITY — Kylie Cino scored twice in the final five minutes Friday, October 30, rescuing a 2-2 draw against Wisconsin and extending Iowa women’s soccer’s home unbeaten streak to 19 matches.

The Hawkeyes erased a two-goal deficit at the Iowa Soccer Complex, converting their sustained offensive pressure into an equalizer in the 89th minute. The comeback provided a dramatic finish to the regular season, but Iowa did not qualify for the Big Ten Tournament.

Iowa finished the regular season 9-4-6 overall and 4-3-5 in conference play. Wisconsin finished 10-4-4 and 6-3-3.

“It’s a mixture of disappointment and pride in our second half,” Iowa head coach Dean Ward said. “Ultimately we didn’t make the Big Ten tournament but I said to the team that we can play with anybody, we’re capable of that but we just haven’t been able to put it together for a full 90 minutes.”

Cino delivers twice with time running out

Wisconsin struck first when Anya Gulbrandsen scored an unassisted goal in the 17th minute. The Badgers took that 1-0 lead into halftime despite Iowa holding a 5-3 advantage in shots and earning all five first-half corner kicks.

Hailey Baumann doubled Wisconsin’s lead in the 78th minute, finishing a pass from Izy Traub and leaving the Hawkeyes with little time to recover.

Cino started the comeback in the 86th minute after Iowa drew a penalty in the box. Her successful penalty kick cut Wisconsin’s lead to 2-1.

Another Iowa opportunity was stopped by Badger goalkeeper Drew Stover, but the Hawkeyes recovered quickly. Iba Oching set up Cino for the tying goal in the 89th minute, completing Cino’s first career two-goal match and giving Oching her first collegiate assist.

Cino now has five goals this season after entering the year with one career goal.

Hawkeyes dominate chances, preserve home streak

Iowa finished with an 18-6 advantage in total shots and a 10-3 edge in shots on goal. The Hawkeyes also generated 14 corner kicks to Wisconsin’s one.

Stover’s eight saves helped Wisconsin withstand much of that pressure. Iowa goalkeeper Braelynn Galt made one save.

Oching, Millie Greer and Josie Jones played all 90 minutes as the Hawkeyes kept their lengthy home unbeaten streak intact.

The rally followed another notable result at the Iowa Soccer Complex: Iowa’s upset of No. 10 UCLA. That victory was the program’s first against a top-10 opponent since beating No. 6 Arkansas on August 14, 2025.

Regular season ends with offensive milestones

Iowa’s 39 goals are its most in a season since 2019. The Hawkeyes outshot opponents 334-188 during the regular season, and 14 players recorded an assist.

Berit Parten leads the team with a career-high 21 points. Reilly Heman has career bests of nine goals and 20 points, while Elle Wildman’s 11 points and Abby Skiff’s three assists also represent career highs.

Heman and Parten each recorded multiple two-goal matches this season, the first time since 2017 that more than one Hawkeye accomplished that feat in the same year. Heman also produced three four-point performances, something an Iowa player had not done since 2014.

At the other end of the field, Galt’s 61 saves are the most by an Iowa first-year goalkeeper since 2020. She earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week recognition on October 27, when Greer was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.

With the regular season complete and Iowa outside the Big Ten Tournament field, the university’s release did not announce another match.
