CEDAR FALLS — A speeding stop turned into a motorcycle pursuit Thursday night, October 22, when a Cedar Falls man allegedly fled officers before turning onto a dead-end road, hitting gravel and crashing.
Cedar Falls Public Safety identified the driver as Tyler Ryan Osterkamp, 20, of Cedar Falls. He sustained minor injuries and was charged with felony eluding, reckless driving, failure to maintain control and speeding.
Pursuit ends on Oster Parkway
Officers attempted to stop a white-and-blue 2015 Suzuki motorcycle for speeding on University Avenue at approximately 8:17 p.m., according to Cedar Falls Public Safety.
Police say the driver fled south on Cedar Heights Drive, then headed west on Greenhill Road.
He turned left onto Oster Parkway, a dead-end road. The pursuit ended when the motorcycle hit gravel and crashed, authorities said.
The release did not specify the motorcycle’s speed, the length of the pursuit or whether Osterkamp required hospital treatment.
Driver faces felony eluding charge
Authorities listed four charges against Osterkamp: felony eluding, reckless driving, failure to maintain control and speeding. The release did not provide the specific felony classification or statutory subsections.
Black Hawk County Dispatch and the Iowa State Patrol assisted Cedar Falls Public Safety.
