NORTHWOOD — Lonna Marie Wright, 75, of Northwood, died September 15, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Mason City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 2, at First Lutheran Church in Northwood, with Pastor Becky Sogge officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 1, at Hoff Celebrations – Sites Memorial Chapel in Northwood.
Lonna was born February 26, 1951, in Forest City to Wayne and DeElda (Martinson) Holtan. She grew up on a farm near Lake Mills, attended Lake Mills High School and graduated in 1969.
Faith was part of Lonna’s life from an early age. She was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, the same church where another major chapter in her life would later begin.
On August 22, 1970, Lonna married Charles “Chuck” Wright at Salem Lutheran Church. Together they raised two sons, Michael and Bradley, and spent most of their married life in Northwood.
After Chuck’s death, Lonna later moved to Mason City, but her ties to Northwood, Lake Mills and the surrounding Northern Iowa communities remained an important part of her life.
Lonna spent more than 25 years working for Fleetguard, later known as Cummins Filtration, building a long career alongside many coworkers and friends.
Away from work, Lonna enjoyed keeping busy and having fun.
She loved dancing and bowling and was always ready for a trip with friends. If there was somewhere to go, Lonna was generally interested — and if shopping could be worked into the adventure, even better.
Clothes and jewelry were particular favorites, although her family joked that Lonna could find something worth buying just about anywhere.
Traveling with friends gave her opportunities to see new places, laugh and make memories, but the people closest to her always remained the most important part of her world.
Lonna especially treasured her son and grandchildren.
Her grandchildren Ethan, Stella and Michael Wright brought her tremendous happiness, and the time she spent with them became some of the most meaningful moments of her later years.
Family members remembered Lonna as a one-of-a-kind woman whose personality left an impression on the people around her. Through life’s ups and downs, she had a special ability to bring joy and affection to those she loved, particularly her grandchildren.
Lonna is survived by Bradley and Angela Wright of Northwood; Sandra and Orin Liljedahl of Clear Lake; Janell Iverson and Arlan Hollander of Northwood; Beth and Joel Dahle of Lake Mills; Donna Bott of Rochester, New York; grandchildren Ethan, Stella and Michael Wright; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and DeElda Holtan; husband, Charles “Chuck” Wright; son, Michael Wright; brother, Terry Holtan; brothers-in-law Jon Iverson and Edward Bott; sister-in-law Nancy Holtan; nephew Douglas Bott; niece Amy Liljedahl; and parents-in-law Donald and Edith Wright.
In lieu of flowers, Lonna’s family is encouraging memorial donations to WCCOP, an organization she passionately supported.

Lonna will be remembered for more than seven decades of life in Northern Iowa — a farm childhood near Lake Mills, a long marriage and working career, evenings spent dancing or bowling, trips with friends, plenty of shopping excursions and, most of all, the happiness she found in being surrounded by the family she loved.
