FLOYD — Janet Sheffner, 84, a lifelong Floyd resident, died Saturday, August 29, 2026, at home with her children beside her following a long battle with cancer.
A funeral service was scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 5, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City, with Jan Tjaden officiating. Burial was planned at Sunnyside Memory Gardens. The family suggested memorials to St. Croix Hospice instead of flowers.
Born August 16, 1942, Janet Kay Bahlman was the daughter of Henry and Eleanor Bahlman. She married Ronald A. Sheffner on September 18, 1960, in Kensett.
Janet retired from Pfizer and enjoyed visiting family in Arkansas. She loved animals, especially her cat, Missy, and enthusiastically followed Iowa Hawkeye basketball.
Strong-willed and fiercely loyal, she maintained friendships spanning generations.
Survivors include children Chris Sheffner and Kelly Graham, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Ronald, her parents, son-in-law Ed Eggers, granddaughter Jennifer Bozich and sister Val Fisher.
