
LELAND — Authorities are asking the public to help locate a 91-year-old rural Leland man who disappeared along with his vehicle and may not have his cellular phone.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office issued the public appeal Wednesday, August 12, 2026, while searching for Ralph Westerberg.
Westerberg (pictured at top, via sheriff’s office) was last seen by family members Monday evening, August 10.
His vehicle is also missing from his residence, leading investigators to believe Westerberg may have driven away without taking his phone.
Authorities are searching for:
Ralph Westerberg, age 91
Vehicle: White 2005 Toyota Camry
Iowa license plate: QIG 081
The Sheriff’s Office had not announced that Westerberg was found as of Wednesday. No clothing or additional physical description was included in the initial alert.
Anyone who has seen Westerberg or the white Toyota Camry, or who has information about their whereabouts, should immediately call the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office at 641-585-2828 and select option 0.
Members of the public should pay particular attention to roadways, parking areas, hospitals, fuel stations and other locations where the vehicle may have stopped. Anyone spotting the Camry should note its location and direction of travel and promptly notify authorities.
UPDATE on August 13, from police: “Mr Westerberg was located and is doing well. He will be transported to a medical facility for evaluation.”
