Northern Iowa teen injured after losing control, crashing into cornfield

An 18-year-old Northern Iowa driver was injured Monday evening after losing control of a vehicle and crashing into a cornfield.

FAYETTE COUNTY, IOWA — An 18-year-old Northern Iowa driver was injured Monday evening after losing control of a vehicle and crashing into a cornfield.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the crash on Kornhill Road at approximately 6:11 p.m. on July 20, 2026.

Deputies determined that Mylee Bockenstedt, 18, of Greeley, lost control of the vehicle, struck a ditch and continued into a cornfield.

Bockenstedt suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Arlington Fire Department, Arlington Ambulance, Fayette Ambulance and Birchard Fab & Repair, which removed the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation.
