OSAGE — A Northern Iowa auto crash near Osage sent two people to the hospital Sunday afternoon, including one person with life-threatening injuries, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
The crash happened at 4:05 PM on June 29, 2026, on Highway 9 at River Road in Osage.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2009 Pontiac Solstice was westbound on Highway 9 behind a westbound Chevrolet Silverado. The Pontiac collided with the rear of the Silverado, then crossed into a head-on collision with an eastbound 2019 Chevrolet Silverado.
The driver of the Pontiac was transported to Mitchell County Regional Health Center by Mitchell County EMS with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the eastbound 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was also transported to Mitchell County Regional Health Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The State Patrol report indicates both injured drivers were wearing seat belts, and the report lists seat belts as life-saving in both cases.
The names, ages and hometowns of the drivers were withheld in the initial crash report.
All three vehicles were towed by Osage Towing. The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
Trooper Sanchez of Iowa State Patrol Post 8 investigated the crash. The State Patrol was assisted by other ISP personnel, the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, Mitchell County EMS and Osage Towing & Repair.
