MASON CITY — Roger Lee Myhre Sr., 78, of Mason City, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 18, 2026.
Roger was born Feb. 13, 1948, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the son of Carl Joe and Harriet Rice Myhre. He graduated from New Richland-Hartland High School and later studied mechanics through the Pipestone Vocational Program.
According to his obituary, Roger proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
He married Vicki Louise Lewis on Aug. 10, 1974, after confidently telling those around him the first time he saw her that he intended to marry her. The couple shared more than 51 years of marriage and raised three children.
Roger was known for his strong work ethic and dependable nature. He worked at Peaster Derby Gas Station, K-Brick Distribution and North Central International.
His obituary notes that Roger spent more than two decades working for North Central International before retiring in 2025. Whether at work or at home, he was someone others could count on to lend a hand and complete a job properly.
Roger enjoyed bowling, visiting casinos, attending car races and watching Major League Baseball. He was a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins and had attended Twins games since 1961.
Family remained at the center of Roger’s life. He enjoyed attending sporting events, celebrating milestones and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roger also had a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Shadow.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Myhre; children Roger Myhre Jr. and his wife, Kelly, of Swaledale, Phil Myhre and his wife, Hanna, of Mason City, and Twyla Steenblock and her husband, Andrew, of Mason City; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with another expected; sister Fern Oberg of Waseca, Minnesota; brother Barry Jacobson of Albert Lea; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Harriet Myhre; parents-in-law Dale and Phyllis Lewis; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and his dog, Shadow.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street NE in Mason City.
Visitation continued for one hour before the funeral service Saturday, June 27.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel.
Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.
