July 31, 1943 – April 17, 2026

Jerrie Jean Koppen, 82, of Nora Springs, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Nora Springs Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., Nora Springs, with Randy Koppen officiating. Visitation will take place two hours prior, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Park Cemetery in Nora Springs.

Jerrie was born on July 31, 1943, to Virgil and Lillian (Jansen) Grandy. She grew up in Nora Springs and attended Nora Springs Rock Falls High School.

On October 25, 1963, she married William “Bill” Koppen, and together they raised four children and built a life centered around family.

Jerrie devoted herself to caring for those she loved. As a homemaker, she created a warm, welcoming home and also spent time providing childcare for other local families, something she truly enjoyed. Later, she worked at Fox River, the Hy-Vee deli, and in the school cafeteria, where she continued to connect with people in her community.

She had a knack for finding joy in the simple things; tending her garden, enjoying a good cup of coffee, and hunting for treasures at thrift stores and rummage sales. She took pride in making her house feel like home with the pieces she found, and she was well known for her flowers and her unbeatable homemade pickles.

Jerrie was especially devoted to her family, and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She loved attending their activities whenever she could. She had a gift for conversation, never hesitating to strike up conversations with anyone, whether she knew them or not, and she always enjoyed a good drive through the countryside.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Sandy) Koppen, Tammy (Wayne) Prazak, Julie (Chad) McKee, and Jill (Bret) Lauterbach; her grandchildren, Barry (McKenna) Koppen, Abby (Mike) Broecker, Rory Prazak, Madelin McKee, Carsten McKee, Kyle Koppen (significant friend, Lauren Buhrow), and Lohgan Lauterbach; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Glen (Pat) Grandy; her brother-in-law, Clarence (Shirley) Koppen Jr.; her sister-in-law, Kathryn (Steve) Brodersen; special friends, Lorraine Jorgensen and Char Lubbert; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; her parents; her parents-in-law, Clarence & Phyllis Koppen, and sister-in-law Sandra Krueger.
