Roger LeRoy Martzahn, 84, passed away on April 14, 2026. A public visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on April 24, 2026 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. April 25, 2026 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene, Iowa.

June 7, 1941 – April 14, 2026

Roger LeRoy Martzahn, 84 was born June 7, 1941, in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Roy and Jeanette (Menken) Martzahn. He was baptized on July 7, 1941, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene, Iowa. He passed away on April 14, 2026, at Unity Point Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa with his family by his side.

He graduated from Greene Community School in 1960. He had a love for music and was a member of the FFA. Roger met the love of his life, Mary Ann O’Connor on a blind date in 1960. Roger and Mary Ann were united in marriage on August 26, 1961, in Cartersville, Iowa. To this union five children were born.

Roger was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene, Iowa. He served on the church board along with being the custodian for 12 years. You would often see Roger driving around town in his 1956 red and white Ford Victoria, his real pride and joy. His labor of love was in the shop, where he spent countless hours restoring old tractors. Roger was known for his sharp sense of humor and one-liners, he could make anyone smile.

Roger had an unwavering work ethic which was instilled in him by his father, Roy. He worked for T & M Welding Shop in Greene, Iowa for many years. From sunrise to sunset his days started early and ended late. He worked on his family farm milking cows, raising hogs, growing crops and providing for those he loved. His hands told the story of years of honest labor and his legacy will live on in his family in generations to come.

He was the loving husband of 64 years to his wife Mary Ann, beloved father of his five children: Rick (Jane) Martzahn, Roland (Deanne) Martzahn, Rodger Joel (special friend, Susan) Martzahn, Michelle (Faron) Jensen, Melinda Stiles, and special nephew Mike Dow. His grandchildren: Bradley Martzahn, David Martzahn, Katie McGrane, Nate Martzahn, Elisa VanWert, Ashley Murray, Heather Gardner, Kelsie Jensen, Taylor Kelm, Ryan Stiles, Matt Stiles; and 28 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by: His parents, Roy and Jeanette Martzahn, his daughter Melinda Stiles and his sister Janice DeVries.

A public visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on April 24, 2026 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. April 25, 2026 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene, Iowa. He will be laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, Iowa following the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may be directed to the family.. Woodley Funeral Home of Greene is caring for Roger and his family.
