Joshua M. Wilson, 34, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026.
A celebration of his life will be held at the end of May, with service details to be announced.
Memorials may be directed to his family.
Joshua Michael Wilson was born May 28, 1991, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Michael Allen Wilson and Kathy Sue Urbatch. He grew up in Joice and later lived in Lake Mills and Kensett, where he attended Lake Mills High School. After school, he entered the workforce, working at Diamond Jo Casino and later alongside his father before finding his place at Winnebago Industries, where he was currently a Senior Lead on Line 3.
In 2018, Josh married Amy Kofron. Though they later divorced, their union brought him the two greatest joys of his life, his children, Garrett and Chloe, whom he loved beyond measure.
Josh—never “Joshua,” as he would quickly and firmly remind you, “It’s just Josh”—was known for his humor, his generosity, and his steady willingness to help others. He was the kind of person who showed up, who figured things out, and who took care of what needed to be done. A devoted father, he treasured every moment with his children. His family meant everything to him, and he shared a close bond with his parents and siblings.
He had a natural gift for fixing things and could repair just about anything, especially small engines. He loved to tinker, always working with his hands, and had a talent for wood carving and engraving. Whether he was out fishing or spending time on the water, Josh found peace in the simple things and in doing what he loved.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his beloved children, Garrett and Chloe; dad, Michael (Amy) Wilson of Kensett; mom, Kathy Rieck of Austin, MN; sister, Amanda (Michael) LaCore of Austin, MN; maternal grandpa, Richard Urbatch; step-siblings, Jake (Sara) Schnulle, Bryce (Jessica Baer) Schnulle, Jed Schnulle, Elizabeth (Josh) Shuck, and Elijah Schnulle; many nieces and nephews; two uncles; four aunts; as well as many extended family members, and countless friends and coworkers.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Dorothy (Frakes) Wilson; maternal grandmother, Evelyn Urbatch; uncle, Terry Willard; and niece, Evelyn Schnulle.
