Kathryn L. Chapman, 67, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Friday, April 10, 2026, at MercyOne Medical Center, in Waterloo, Iowa, surrounded by her family.
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa, with Eldon Fenton and John Sullivan officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa, and for one hour before the service on Wednesday.
Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Rural Oelwein, Iowa.
Kathryn Lynn Wagg was born September 7, 1958, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Pliny Fay Jr. and Evelyn Joyce (Gibler) Wagg. She graduated from West Central High School in Maynard. At 16 she began working with her mother at Grandview Care Center as a nurse’s aide until her marriage. On September 18, 1976, Kathy was united in marriage to Allen Keith Chapman at the Methodist Church in Maynard, Iowa. She spent her time as a professional cake decorator and worked for the Elgin library until her retirement. Kathy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed cake decorating, planting flowers, cross stitching, babysitting, trips in the car, family, and spending time with grandchildren.
Kathy is survived by her husband: Allen Chapman of Oelwein; Daughter: Sarah Saunders of Oelwein; 2 Grandchildren: Tyler (Kim) Durnan of Oelwein and Jenna Helmuth of Oelwein; 3 Great-Grandchildren: Maria, Emma, and Charlie; 2 Brothers: Scott (Amanda) Wagg of Muscatine, and David (Karen) Wagg of Stanton; Brother-in-Law: Rod Butikofer; and many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, in-laws: Harley and Betty Chapman, sister Sheryl Butikofer, and nephew: Dean Erickson.
