Alan Gallahan, 77, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone.
Alan was born on June 18, 1948, in Ames, the son of Robert and Greta (Apple) Gallahan. After graduating from Ames High School, he joined the US Navy in 1967. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
In May 1976, he married Diana McKone in Ames. Alan worked as a plumber around the Ames and Des Moines areas until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing at Ada Hayden Lake, especially with his friend, Bill Soy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diana Gallahan and son, Alex Gallahan.
Alan is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Gallahan of Boone; brother, Mark (Yolanda) Gallahan of Boone; and his best friend since second grade, Bill (Carol) Soy of Ames.
Following Alan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone.
