John Peter Rheingans, 75, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Good Shepherd Health Care Center.
John was born on August 25, 1950, he was the son of George Cecil and Mary (Reynolds) Rheingans. He was raised in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 1969.
John spent his working years as a dedicated truck driver, a career that suited his independent spirit and love of the open road. Outside of work, he had a deep appreciation for classic vehicles, especially F-100 trucks, and took great pride in working on them. He also enjoyed building model semis, a hobby that reflected both his craftsmanship and his passion for trucking.
John and Rose enjoyed spending time together and often attended car shows for fun, creating many lasting memories along the way. He cherished every moment with his granddaughter, Nadia, who meant the world to him. John also had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs and cats, and appreciated their companionship and the role they played in everyday life.
Those left to cherish memories of John are his wife of nearly 42 years, Rose; brother, George Rheingans; step-children, Anthony Gilbert, Ole Odom, Michael E. Odom; granddaughter, Nadia Bahnsen; siblings-in-law; Penny (Mike) Alden, Robin (Ron) Bast, and Susan Teeter; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents, George Cecil and Mary Rheingans; his grandparents, brother, Gene Rheingans; brother-in-laws, Carsten Bergdale, Carl Bergdale, and Warren Bergdale; sister-in-law; Carla (Dan) Van-Dyke.
