Linda Jo Herrgott passed away on March 23, 2026, in Hampton, Iowa, at the age of 76. She was born on October 21, 1949, in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii, to Mary and Joseph Allsop, Sr., during her father’s service in the U.S. Navy. Linda’s early years were spent in Hawaii, California, Illinois, and New York before the family settled in Burnsville, Minnesota.
Linda graduated from Burnsville High School in 1967 and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Music and English from Minnesota State Community & Technical College in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Her life took a beautiful turn when she met Thomas J. Herrgott while he was on leave from the U.S. Army. The two were married on January 15, 1972, at the Officer’s Club in Asmara, Ethiopia.
After Tom’s military service ended, the couple moved to Shakopee, Minnesota, and later settled in Glendale, Arizona, where they raised their two daughters, Kenzie and Brie.
Linda was blessed with an angelic voice, which she shared generously throughout her life. She sang in her church choir and performed with a community choir throughout the Glendale area. Her voice brought comfort and joy to many, as she sang at weddings and at funerals.
When she wasn’t singing, Linda enjoyed crocheting, selling PartyLite candles, and cheering on her beloved Arizona Cardinals as a longtime season ticket holder.
Linda worked at Desert Schools Federal Credit Union for many years before retiring in 2016. After the death of her husband, Tom, in 2022, Linda, relocated to Hampton, Iowa, in 2023 to live with her sister, Buffy.
Linda is survived by her daughters, MacKenzie (Jason) Field and Brienne (Jeff) Peck; her cherished grandsons, Bryson and Brayden Peck; her brother, Joseph (Cindy) Allsop, Jr.; her sister, Allyson “Buffy” Pfaltzgraff; and her beloved dog, Ziva. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, out-laws, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents, Joe and Mary Allsop; her brothers, Max and William; her brother-in-law, George H. Pfaltzgraff.
Linda’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and joy. Her beautiful voice and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Linda touched many lives through her music, her kindness, and her dedication to her family and friends. Her legacy will undoubtedly live on.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be planned at a later date.
