FAYETTE COUNTY — Three people suffered minor injuries and a woman had to be mechanically freed from her vehicle following a three-vehicle collision Saturday morning on a Northern Iowa highway.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls at approximately 11:35 a.m. on February 14, 2026, reporting a crash at the intersection of Iowa Highway 3 and Y Avenue, about two miles north of Oran.
Investigators determined that 69-year-old Donna Mae Winter of Waterloo was driving a red 2024 Toyota RAV4 XLE south on Y Avenue when she allegedly failed to yield at the Highway 3 intersection.
Winter pulled into the path of a black 2020 Ford F-150 SuperCrew driven east on Highway 3 by 49-year-old Ryan Andrew Dietzenbach of Oelwein, authorities said.
The Ford struck the Toyota, rolled and then collided with a silver 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel that was stopped at the adjacent stop sign. The Ram was driven by 55-year-old Todd William Briddle of Readlyn.
Winter was temporarily trapped inside the Toyota and had to be mechanically extracted by the Oran Fire Department. She suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Dietzenbach and a passenger in the Ford also suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Briddle was not injured.
The Toyota and Ford were considered total losses. Damage to the Ram was estimated at approximately $1,500.
Winter was cited for failure to yield the right of way. Dietzenbach was cited for operating without valid registration.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Bremer County Sheriff’s Office, Oran First Responders, Oran Fire Department and Fairbank Ambulance.
The collision comes as authorities continue responding to serious multi-vehicle crashes across Northern Iowa. In another three-vehicle wreck reported Saturday, two women were airlifted in critical condition after a car collided with a propane tanker near Lester. Read more about that crash here.
