Michael Alan Hogfoss, 60, of Manly, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and services will be announced at a later date.
Mike was born May 26, 1965, in Moorhead, Minnesota, to Ronald Arthur Hogfoss Sr. and Dianne Lee Glowac. He attended school through his junior year before heading into the workforce, ready to start earning and doing things his own way.
Mike worked as a manager at Country Kitchen for many years, retiring in 2021. He took pride in his work and the people he worked alongside, building friendships and serving countless customers over the years.
Mike lived life out loud. A proud Chicago Bears fan, he loved sports of all kinds and could turn any conversation into one about the game. He enjoyed trips to the casino, buying scratch tickets, shopping, and sitting back to people watch. If there was an audience, or even if there wasn’t, Mike was talking. He was known for his “Minnesota mouth,” meaning he was loud, consistent, and never short on words. He always had the last word and he made sure of it.
Honest to the core, Mike told it exactly how it was. You always knew where you stood with him. He liked things neat, kept a tidy space, and had a deep appreciation for his collections of old sports memorabilia, coins, and stamps. One of his favorite sayings was, “That’s so nice,” often delivered with his signature tone.
Mike never let anyone leave hungry and was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He adored his daughters and was incredibly proud of them. He also had a special place in his heart for his daughters’ pug, Bentley, whom he fully claimed as his own.
Mike is survived by his loving daughters, Jenifer “Al” Hohenfield (Zac Sletten and Keely Heck) and Michaela (Shay) Schuler; his son-in-law, Jamey Hohenfield; his cherished grandchildren, Zenek Hohenfield “Squeakers”, Mackenzie Hohenfield, Harmony Sletten and Haiden Sletten; his mother, Dianne Hogfoss; his siblings, Ronald Hogfoss Jr. (Brenda Witt) and April Streiff; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Hogfoss Sr., his son, Kory Hogfoss; and his beloved dog, Mr. Bentley.
Mike leaves behind stories, laughter, strong opinions, and a whole lot of words – and that’s exactly how he would have wanted it.
