Michael L. Ruroden, 73, of West Union, died Sunday, January 25, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rock Island, Illinois.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Eldorado with Rev. Terry Landsgaard officiating. Inurnment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, rural West Union. Visitation will precede services at the Church on Saturday starting at 9:30 AM. Memorials may be made to the family for later designation.
Michael Laverne, son of Floyd and Avis (Musser) Ruroden was born September 30, 1952, in West Union, Iowa. He was baptized on March 21, 1954, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in West Union. Michael received his education in the Valley School System. He married Teresa Pape and to this union two sons were born, Zach and Colt. The couple later divorced. Michael worked for many years at Signode and later at Sweet Computers, both in West Union. He enjoyed hunting, walking the woods in search of morel mushrooms and was an avid gun collector.
Michael is survived by his sons, Colt (Karson Deeny) Ruroden of Eldorado and Brandon Pape of Melcher-Dallas; three grandchildren, Kaden, Alaynah, and Remington Ruroden; siblings, Robert Ruroden of Auburn, Larry (Beth) Ruroden of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Danny (Jodi Green) Ruroden of Austin, Minnesota, Connie (Chris) Bunch of Dayton, Minnesota, Debra (Jerry Nagel) Kilcoyne of Cresco, Gail Panos of New Hampton, and Sheila (Klel Harris) McKenna of Chaska, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Dean Foster of Riceville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Zach Ruroden; sister, Norma (Kulish) Foster; sister-in-law, Dixie Ruroden; and brother-in-law, David Kulish.
