Patricia A. Showalter, 88, of Britt passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Westview Care Center in Britt.
Patricia Ann Showalter the daughter of Harvey and Blanche (Lloyd) Hosier was born on September 16, 1937 in Swea City, Iowa and later moved to Forest City where she grew up and graduated from Forest City High School. In the early 70’s she graduated from Le James School of Cosmetology in Mason City, Iowa. In 1989, she earned her degree as an LPN at Iowa Lakes Community College.
Pat met Jim Showalter during his time at Waldorf College and the couple were married May 29, 1955 at the Forest City United Methodist Church. The couple later moved to Crystal Lake.
Pat held many positions over the years as both an LPN and a beautician both in Iowa and Idaho. She worked out of her own shop for many years and even traveled to Juneau, Alaska to work there for a time. She worked at Cherokee Mental Health Hospital as an LPN until her retirement. Even in her retirement, she went to work in Wyoming as a travel nurse and later fulfilled her goal of being a ranch cook in Cheyenne, Wyoming as that was something she had always wanted to do.
Pat was a strong, independent woman and loved her family dearly. She always put those she cared about before herself. She was a hard worker and a great friend to many.
She is survived by her children: Jon (Sandra) Showalter of Bristol, Tennessee and their children William, Mario and Cameron; Janet (Mike) Justice of Boise, Idaho and their children Jeremy, Amanda, Mike and Michelle; Joel (Stacey) Showalter, Sr. of Britt, Iowa and daughter Amy, son Michael and daughter-in-law, Katie; Jeff (Sherri) Showalter of Rockwell, Iowa and their children Brandon and Nick; Jordan Showalter of Cedar Falls, Iowa and his children Ben, Tim, and Alexis; many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Pat was preceded in death by (the father of her children, dear friend, former husband) Jim Showalter, parents, sister, Delores (Lyle) Bagne, and grandson Joel Showalter, Jr.
